How does MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator work?

The foraging cockroach is lured to the product by the attractant contained in it. A cockroach’s exoskeleton is slightly magnetic. The magnetic properties of MAGTHANITE™ cause the powder to adhere to the cockroach’s exoskeleton.

The foraging cockroach returns to the harbourage; it contaminates the harbourage (including gravid females and nymphs) through contact and by depositing powder around the harbourage. The powder enters the cockroaches’ bodies through the soft membranes in the exoskeleton, such as leg joints, or through ingestion. Generally, mortality occurs within 24 to 48 hours, but the fipronil adheres to the exoskeleton for longer, ensuring maximum effectiveness.

Why is MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator superior to other forms of controlling or trapping cockroaches?

MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator brings a new approach – powder technology -- to solving the problem of cockroach infestation. It is not a trap, nor an ingested bait. It kills cockroaches in the harbourage. It works better and more rapidly than gels, and has been demonstrated to be effective on both susceptible and resistant strains of cockroach.

Because the active ingredient in MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator is carried in its pure state into the harbourage on the exoskeleton of a foraging cockroach, it is passed on to the other cockroaches in greater concentration and so more effectively than through ingested gels found in fæces and carcasses of foraging cockroaches which ingest gel bait and return to the harbourage.

How is MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator sold?

MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator is offered in two Professional formulations (for use by Pest Control Operatives only) and in a Household formulation for domestic use

MAGTHANITE™ PROFESSIONAL SUPER-STRENGTH (Green) is recommended to professional pest controllers for the first attack on heavy infestation. It contains a higher concentration of active ingredient.

MAGTHANITE™ PROFESSIONAL STANDARD (Blue): delivers highly effective cockroach termination to professional pest controllers, and is particularly appropriate for use in restaurants, hotels, hospitals and schools.

MAGTHANITE™ HOUSEHOLD (Orange) for effective cockroach elimination by homeowners.

How is MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator used?

The number of attractant points will vary according to the severity of infestation, and will depend on the formula of MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator selected. Generally, light infestations require up to 6 to 10 attractant points per 10m²; heavy infestations should be treated with 10 to 20 attractant points per 10m².

100gm of MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator in all three versions is sufficient for up to 100 attractant points. Use the Tube form for cracks and crevices.

How long does MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator last?

It is recommended that the product be replaced every 10 to 14 days. Regular use of MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator will prevent a recurrence of infestation from new waves of cockroaches.

How effective is MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator?

Independent tests in the laboratory and in cockroach-infested locations have shown that 100% mortality is achieved in 24 to 48 hours. A single cockroach infected with MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator will infect anything from 30 (periplaneta americana) to 100 (blattella germanica) cockroaches.

Is MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator harmful to humans or animals?

The magnetic powder is an inert substance and meets UK and EU Health and Safety Directives. The recommended insecticides used in the MAGTHANITE™ Cockroach Exterminator formulæ have been approved through appropriate national government regulatory schemes.
